Chanted Meditations

The chanted meditations at Kalpa Bhadra Kadampa Buddhist Center, known as ‘pujas’, follow a range of Buddhist prayer booklets prepared by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso and published by Tharpa Publications. These prayer booklets, known as sadhanas, can also be used for individual practice and are available for purchase in our bookstore or from Tharpa Publications – www.tharpa.com.

Engaging in pujas is a special method for purifying negativity, accumulating merit and receiving blessings. It helps us to develop and maintain a positive mind, and is a powerful preparation for meditation.

Everyone is welcome to attend all the pujas except for the Highest Yoga Tantra Pujas (QP-DY). There is no need to preregister and there is no fee.

Below is a list of pujas held at Kalpa Bhadra.  Please check the calendar for specific dates and times.

Wishfulfilling Jewel with Meditation

Kadampa Buddhist Centers usually perform as their daily puja Wishfulfilling Jewel which is the Guru yoga of Je Tsongkhapa combined with the condensed sadhana of his Dharma Protector. This is generally combined with a short meditation on Lamrim.

Wishfulfilling Jewel with tsog

Wishfulfilling Jewel prayers with tsog (food and drink offerings). Please feel free to bring an offering.

Offering to the Spiritual Guide

Offering to the Spiritual Guide is a special Guru yoga of Je Tsongkhapa in conjunction with Highest Yoga Tantra. The main practice is relying upon the Spiritual Guide, but it also includes all the essential practices of the stages of the path (Lamrim) and training the mind (Lojong), as well as both the generation stage and completion stage of Highest Yoga Tantra.
